All You Need To Know About New Samsung 870 EVO Series!

South Korean electronics giant Samsung is soon to launch a new edition its affordable SATA III SSDs in the 2.5 inch form factor. All the technical information for the new Samsung870 EVO SSD series is now available.

already reported that the Samsung SSD 870 EVO will launch in two versions: 250 gigabytes or 500 gigabytes, and with one, two, or four terabytes. The new SSDs can read and write at speeds up to 560 megabytes per minute for reading, and 530 megabytes for writing. They are slightly slower than the predecessor models.

We are still unsure of the exact technical specifications that the Samsung 870 EVO SSDs provide. The new Solid State Drives are equipped with Samsung V-NAND 3-bit MLC storage instead of the TLC memory in the Samsung 860 EVO. This official datasheet was made available by the manufacturer.

Samsung uses flash memory at 512 megabytes (250 GB and 500 GB versions), one gigabyte (1TB version), two gigabytes (2TB version), or four gigabytes depending on which model LPDDR4RAM (4 TB) is used. The LPDDR4 RAM is fast and serves as a cache. It should allow for high speeds reading and writing.

Samsung also gave the SSD 870 EVO the Samsung MKX controller. However, it is still unclear what advantages this has over the predecessor MJX. Samsung is offering a maximum five year guarantee and a service life up to 2400TBW (Terabytes Written).

While no concrete information is available on the prices, it should start at around 50 euros. The upper limit of the price range will be about 500 euros.
