Shubman Gill became the second youngest Indian opener to score a hundred in Test cricket against Australia. He went past KL Rahul who had hit a ton in 2015 during the Sydney Test match against the Aussies. This is also his second hundred in the longest format of the game and hi first against Australia.

Gill got his first opportunity in the ongoing Test series during the Indore Test match. However he could score just 21 and 5 and India lost it by nine runs. This time, on a batting track Gill did no mistake of utilizing the conditions and notched up the hundred on Day 3. During the Gabba Test 2021 saw India claiming a stunning victory, Gill fell short of nine runs of scoring his first Test century against Australia. Finally, he managed to get one in the Ahmedabad Test and also became the second youngest Indian opener to achieve the same.

The list comprises of cricketers who scored Test hundred against Australia before turning 24. The names include, Rishabh Pant (159 not out in Sydney 2019), Sachin Tendulkar (148 not out in Sydney 1992), GR Viswanath (137 in Kanpur 1969), Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (128 not out in Chennai 1964), Dattu Phadkar (123 in Adelaide 1948), Virat Kohli (116 in Adelaide 2012),  Sachin Tendulkar (114 in Perth 1992), Dilip Vengsarkar (112 in Bengaluru 1979), KL Rahul (110 in Sydney 2015).

Gill also became the first batsman to score a century in every format of the game in 2023. He also became the first batsman in the country to score a century in all three formats in a calendar year. As per the cricket news data this was Gill’s fifth hundred in 2023. He has already scored a double hundred in One Day Internationals in Hyderabad against and also 126 not out in a T20I match in Ahmedabad against New Zealand. Gill’s form will make him a very popular during Indian Premier League betting predictions in the coming days.
